The Academy has been in inception since 1981 initially operating as the Anglo Alpha Cement Training Centre. The Academy was privatized in 1999 and changed the name to Ikhaya Fundisa Techniskills Academy (PTY) Ltd. The organization prides itself in imparting quality training for its clients.

You do not need to report to the Training officer any situation that presents a risk to the health & safety of that Trainee or any other person, and with which the Trainee cannot properly deal with.

Learners will wear safety glasses when working on any piece of equipment used to drill, cut, mill or grind. This includes lathe machines, milling machines, drills grinders and so on.
Ensure that all relevant lock out procedures are followed when working on equipment. This is applicable even when the work station is not connected to a power source.
All machines will be cleaned once a week and shaving placed in the correct bins.
Learners shall inform their instructor by phone before 13H00 in the case of absenteeism. Proof, in the case of absence due to medical reasons, shall be produced on the day the learners resumes training.
Starting times, tea times and lunch times vary for one workshop to the next. Learners must check the notice board in the relevant workshop for these times. No learner will be allowed to leave before the allocated time unless arranged with the instructor.
Risk assessment forms must be completed at the end of each task.

ATI’s training methodology uses self-study, where the learner is required to complete their training within a prescribed time period. Learners should ask questions and inform the ETDP when he or she is ready for an assessment to take place. The ETDP will then conduct the assessment.
