Overview:
This module deals with transformers. You will be taught a method of drawing difference transformer configurations and the method to calculate the line, phase current and voltage d how to cool down the transformers
Key and critical concepts which you will learn:
- Connect three single phase transformers in four different ways to form three-phase transformers.
- Connect the three-phase transformers to a load.
- Draw the appropriate circuit diagrams.
- Measure and calculate all the line and phase voltages of the primary and secondary parts of the transformers, as well as the voltage and current of the load
Tools, consumables, machinery and equipment required:
- Module book / learning material
- Pen
- Booklet to make notes
- Main breaker , earth bar, neutral bar, potential transformers , ct current transformers, ammeters, voltmeters, load
- Circuit diagram
- Safety glasses
- Multimeter
- Subject matter experts
Application:
An electrical work environment where you would be required to step up or step down the voltage. This could be single phase and / or three phase installations. That will help you know whether that is the right transformer to be used.
